Tasting Notes
Offley Boavista 2003 Vintage Port presents a very deep red colour and very good aromatic concentration and intensity, highlighting ripe red fruits (raspberry, “cassis”, plums) and floral aromas (violets), cocoa and exotic woods. The resin aromas of pine tree, cedar and mint, wild plants and varnish are typical of Upper Corgo region and give it an added complexity. To the mouth, the wine is soft and rich, with a long and lingering finish. The wine shows good structure and concentration, backed by lively, firm tannins, very well balanced. A very elegant wine, with a long and lingering finish.
Winemaking
At arrival to the winemaking centre, the hand-picked grapes are de-stalked, crushed and vinified in stainless steel temperature controlled fermenting vats. The wines are transported to the lodges of Vila Nova de Gaia where they will age with great care before bottling. The wine-making methods combine modern technology and age old traditions, preserving the quality and identity of this excellent wine.
Varieties
Offley Boavista 2003 Vintage Port results of a blend of selected native red varieties like Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Amarela grown at Offley’s leading estate Quinta da Boavista in the Upper Corgo region of the Douro.
